Special Events
Throughout the year, PAWS hosts and participates in several events that raise money for PAWS. That money goes towards paying for the vet bills, pet food, medications and services that PAWS provides for its clients. Whenever one of our events comes up, we typically need a whole army of volunteers to help.
Folsom Street Events

The Folsom Street Events are well known for their fairs that celebrate the leather/alternative lifestyle. These fairs, however, are also fundraisers for the organizations they choose as beneficiaries. In order to receive a grant, usually around $14,000, we provide volunteer support to help with tasks such as security, setup, breakdown, recycling, and several other spots.
This year, PAWS is not a major beneficiary of the Folsom Street Events, but we have been selected to operate a beverage booth. Our beverage booth at Folsom will be similar to our booth at Pride, though a bit smaller. We do still need quite a number of volunteers to help. The Folsom Street Fair will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010. See our Folsom Beverage Booth page for details and how to sign up.
Holiday Stocking Delivery
|
For the Holiday season, PAWS makes sure the client dogs and cats get a gift, too. Each year, PAWS creates "stockings" filled with dog or cat treats and toys, as well as gifts for the birds, fish, rabbits, and rodents that we serve. PAWS volunteers team up in pairs of two, and drive around the city, dropping off stockings at about 15 different clients' homes. Given that we are delivering to about 1000 animals in one day, we will need plenty of elves, reindeer and sleighs.
The 2010 Holiday Stocking Delivery will be held on Sunday, December 12th. To view pictures of the 2009 Stocking Delivery, see our photo gallery on our Facebook page.

Every year, PAWS hosts the Petchitecture gala. This is a fun event where architects build fancy dog and cat habitats, and we auction them off to the guests. On the night of the event, though, we need about 125 volunteers to help with things like Silent Auction monitoring, Live Auction spotting, Registration, Dog Assistance, and several others.
Petchitecture was last held on Saturday, May 15th, 2010. Check back in late 2010 for a date for Petchitecture 2011. For more information about the event, see our Petchitecture page. |
Pride
|
When the SF Pride Parade and Celebration comes around, PAWS is typically a beneficiary. We raise money by running a beverage booth. We keep a percentage of the net profits, as well as 100% of the tips. Come pour vodka drinks or margaritas to raise money for PAWS!
Pride is usually held on the last Sunday of June.
