CLIENT Advocacy
Understand your rights and responsibilities as the owner of a service animal.
The PAWS Client Advocacy Program assists disabled individuals who are facing housing problems such as eviction or harassment because of their service animals. Clients receive the following free services:
- Information and referrals
- Assistance writing reasonable accommodation requests
- Mediation with landlords
- Access to pro-bono legal representation if necessary
The program also educates policy makers and the general public on the vital role service animals play in helping people with all kinds of disabilities live healthy and more fulfilling lives.
Who is eligible?
San Francisco residents with disabling HIV/AIDS, other disabling illnesses and seniors age 60 and older are eligible for services. Qualified individuals from outside San Francisco may also be eligible for assistance depending on space availability.
How do I sign up?
Please call our main phone line listed below. Social workers, case managers or other representatives may call on behalf of a prospective client. After an initial phone consultation, an office intake appointment will be scheduled.
