PAWS IS MERGING WITH SHANTI!
We hope you've already heard through social media or in the press, but for those who haven't, we are merging with Shanti! For the past 40 years, Shanti has been providing an array of services to enhance the health and well-being for people living with illnesses such as cancer and HIV/AIDS. We think the two organizations have wonderful mission compatibility and we’re incredibly excited to be joining an organization with such a wonderful reputation for serving the community.
Shanti strongly believes in the power of the human-animal bond and they are excited to welcome PAWS as their newest program. PAWS services will continue from the same building on 23rd St.
Integrating our organization into Shanti’s will provide stability for PAWS and ensure that we are able to continue providing unique and much-needed services for years to come. It also opens up new possibilities for both organizations. For example, together we’re already brainstorming ways for clients to receive more integrated care for themselves and their pets.
All of us at PAWS hope you’ll join us in celebrating the beginning of this next chapter for our wonderful organization. As always, we’re thrilled to have you both as a part of our community and look forward to your continued support for our mission and for the people and pets we serve in our community.
Summer Fundraising Results Are In!
You saw our appeals for fundraising help this summer and you responded! We're happy to share that this year's Pride Beverage Booth Proceeds totaled over $5,500 and our AIDS Walk fundraising raised $3,000! That's over $8,500 for PAWS programs that keep people and their pets together. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped out!
PAWS was also a beneficiary of the 10th Anniversary Show of Donna Sachet's Sunday's a Drag. The show was wonderful and we're still tallying the fundraising total. Every dollar raised through the generosity of event attendees, performers, and most of all, Donna, will be put to great use by our programs.
If you missed your chance though, there's still time to get in on the fun...
Volunteers Needed for Folsom Street Fair - Sept 27
Sign up as a PAWS volunteer for Folsom Street Fair to help us earn more money to support PAWS programming. As a FSE beneficiary for 2015, PAWS will receive a portion of proceeds determined by the number of volunteers we bring to staff FSE's upcoming events. Our participation in 2014 earned PAWS $14,000!!! That's pet food for 38 pets for an entire year!! We're hoping our participation this year will be just as successful.
FSE is managing volunteer registration using Eventbrite. New shifts are constantly being announced for sign ups. Shifts cover day of the fair AND Magnitude, Folsom's official Saturday night dance event. Volunteers may sign up for more than one (non-overlapping) shift.
Bonus - You'll probably get to see the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (who graciously support PAWS and many other wonderful community-based nonprofits) strutting their stuff at the fair!
Want to make sure PAWS gets EXTRA credit for your time? Some volunteer shifts (Setup, Breakdown, Security after 4pm and Green Team after 4pm) will earn us "bonus" points, so please consider signing up for one of these shifts when you register
REGISTER HERE and be sure to indicate that PAWS is your beneficiary organization. If you have any questions, contact Joanne, our Director of Volunteers.
Zoosk Employees Find Puppy Love at PAWS Dog Wash
We would like to say a special thank you to the Zoosk volunteers that returned to volunteer at our dog wash again this month. Each time they join us, they seem to fall deeper and deeper in love with the dogs that come to the wash with their humans. Thank you Zoosk!
We always post pictures of our corporate volunteer groups on our Facebook page after they volunteer with us. Follow us to see more employees in action!
As always, thank you for your continued support of PAWS work on behalf of community members and their companion animals!
